last night was zion'z latino night, and we did a lot of salsa-ing... hahahah quite an interesting and fun experience. had nv done salsa before, but i was always interested in these kinda dances, where they teach u organised dance moves (with the exception of mambo moves).

i think for me, it was quite a challenge cos i don't do organised dance moves (much as i'm interested in them) i can't do organised dance moves, as last night wld have proven to a couple of pple... well at least i did ok enough to survive the night, and u guys wld be glad to know that i didn't kill any toes... on the contrary pple stepped on mine. anyways, i digressed... dancing along to music without prior instructions is easy, cos u just have to move ur body in tune with the music (i know of some pple who can't... heh!!! gui is one of them!!!) and u're not really that conscious of doing it properly. but when it comes to like proper "....and 5, 6, 5, 6, 7, 8..." kinda dance steps... it's tough (at least to me)

ooohhhh before i forget.. got sabo-ed by like dex... ahahahah!!! we were playing this game that required 8 male volunteers, and with each male they needed 2 girls with them. and dex and this other guy, max (i think) were the gung ho ones, bravely sacrifising themselves for the greater good. but then it's not really for the greater good if u're not part of the greater good when u're dragged up as one of the 'brave ones'. well, at first he dragged mish up... and then they were looking for like another partner.. sensing trouble with my spidey senses, i inched my way even further back and into the crowd. trying to be inconspicuous.. but obviously it failed cos mish just told dex to go str8 for me.. *haiz... why?!?!?!* so the aim of the game was to dance with 2 girls at the same time.... so we came up with this weird spinning thing that was very haphazzrd cos i was wearing heels (something i don't do normally but it's salsa hey!) and they were spinning at such a high velocity.. hahha but it was funny.. cos everyone was laughing... (at least most of the uwa zone were laughing) but well, funny but we didn't win.. ahahah but we totally embarassed ourselves....

well, we had a couple of proper dances throughout the night showing us the dance moves as well as 'instructors' on stage going thru the dance steps with us, step by step. all we had to do is follow which is easier said than done cos it was confusing... and there were too many pple in front of me! heh! well, we all soon got the hang of it.. obviously some faster than others... but nonetheless, we managed some semblance of salsa....

danced with chris first.. ahhaha i think i confused myself and in turn confused him with the basic footing lah.. it was quite a weird feeling... dancing with ur senior of dunno how many years.... hahahah and knowing he's crappy and stuff like that. anyways i wasn't looking at anyone's face while i was dancing cos i was so adamant at getting the footing right.. so i looked down all the time lah. hahahahah!!! then danced with like jason chung! which was a fun fun thing.. cos we both dunno anything so we just anyhow whack!!!! ahahah and i think we spent more time laughing at ourselves than any actual dancing. hahaha dancing with jason was fun... cos we were following the 'textbook' like hell.. which wasn't really good lah.. cos it was so wrong and weird. then after that, val and i exchanged partners... got roger, who was good, leading away the dance. and he says it's his first time (which is really good for a first timer) i think he enjoyed making turn round round.. cos he kept asking me to spin. hahahaha i was a bit dizzy from all the spinning lah... hahahahah well, under his lead, we managed to complete this like super (in my pt of view) complicated turn called the hammerlock turn thingy or something like that lah. ahhahahah!! which was fun!! cos i managed to spin without falling flat on my face! i even managed to look up at him while we were dancing.. hahahah cos after a while the moves just become robotic. ahhahaha.....

then they played slow music.. which is so not my type of music to dance to.. cos it's well... SLOW! ahhaah and then roger and i decided to attempt to dance to it.. altho i wld not call it dancing cos we were only like moving side to side and hardly in rhythm to the wonderful enrique igelsias song, hero, sung by ray (this guy from church who has a damm good voice). we bumped into bijia dancing with jay and erm... we all decided to stick close together so we wld look remotely 'normal'. and that was my first slow dance experience. ahhahah!!!

after a while, all of us got tired and sat out for the remaining of the ending night. then to my surprise, they started playing r&b and hip hop stuff over the pa system! which was of course my kinda thing! so i started moving to the music.. as did francis and a couple of others. hahaahah (now we know who are they real party-ers) and then to an even greater surprise, joel and this other black guy (not being racialist) went up on the stage and sort of like battled out.. u know the whole run dmc video.. 'it's like that' ahahhaha something like that.. not the best but nonetheless good.. it's good cos i can't for the life of me dance properly!! heh!! i think that was probably for me, the highlight of the night.

had supper at city garden altho i'd prefer to have had it at dragon china. hahahha cos it's nicer lah.... hhahahah!!! plus free soup and fruits are always a bonus coming from a sunny islander like me. (they call it kiasuism) hahahah!!!!!!!! and that was my attempt at organised dance moves. which thinking back, it wasn't that bad after all... but i sure cld do with much improvements... i'm thinking of learning the salsa or jive proper.. so anyone up for it?? any kakis?!!!! heh!!! u guy have a good week ahead!!!
